Vaska has more than twenty five years of progressively responsible structural design work, comprehensive knowledge of structural theory, international experience in both structural design and structural teaching, comprehensive knowledge of design standards and codes, expert knowledge of most structural design software, developer of in-house structural programs, more than twenty years of teaching structural courses of university and college level.
Vaska began his structural engineering career in 1988, fresh out of Polytechnic University of Tirana Civil Engineering bachelor program. He joined Department of Civil Engineering to teach many structural courses such as Structural Analysis, Dynamics of Structures, Strength of Materials and Reinforced Concrete. Simultaneously, as an independent consultant, he designed numerous multistory condominium buildings in Tirana, houses all over the country and other various structures such as industrial, featured restaurants, cultural etc. In 2000 Vaska immigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto. In 2003 he completed his MAsc degree in Structural Engineering full time at University of Toronto. He joined Halsall Associates Ltd in Toronto where he gained broad exposure to Canadian experience and had the opportunity to work on hospitals, schools, condominiums and government facilities projects. In 2005 he worked for a short period for Yolles, Toronto where he modeled and performed structural analysis for Guzzeta Hall Addition of the University of Akron, Akron, U.S.A. In 2005 Vaska joined Ravens Engineering Inc. in Toronto. At Ravens Vaska played pivotal roles; personally developed custom based structural programs to suit the company needs; as designer and later project engineer/manager, group leader, mentor and trainer Vaska went beyond his duties to deliver first class structural projects, efficiency, ingenuity and on-site troubleshooting expertise. Vaska continues to pursue his passion of part-time teaching. Since 2007 he teaches Concrete Construction and Steel Construction courses at George Brown College-Continuous Education Department. As part of George Brown College-Corporate Training Department Vaska has taught Concrete Construction courses at Toronto Water Centre and at ECRIN Training Center, Moa, Cuba. In 2014 Vaska started teaching courses of Structural Analysis and Strength of Materials at Humber College-School of Applied Technology. Vaska holds the designation of Professional Engineer in Ontario since 2005.
